Clover's Log

We fought our way through the sewers and made it to the loose grate, though it was not quite as loose as we had hoped since magic had it fastened and alarmed. Keys muscled it away, and we ventured into the tunnel. Whatever alarm we triggered has, so far, produced no guards, traps, or other hostile elements. The tunnel itself features writing in a language none of us knows, and both Brendel and I sense something disquieting about the place. There’s some kind of rhythmic vibration within the stone that is too perfect to be anything other than mechanical—and eventually we discover the source: a moving walkway that disappears into darkness. There are two, one in front of us and one running into the rock below. We cannot tell how deep this area goes.

With nothing else to do but venture forth, we step onto the moving walkway. This leads us into an underground area that is entirely too clean with more writing we don’t recognize. Whatever went on here was likely some sort of mechanical assembly facility or workshop. We find a staircase—the stairs large enough to become almost problematic for Brendel—and head down. A large statue waits at the center of the room, depicting something akin to a Warforged, though the appearance differs from Keys. Three doors are on the other side of the room, and a scale is depicted with the unknown writing this time. Oman approaches one of the doors, and the head of the statue follows his progress. I alert him to this, and he stops, likely avoiding a confrontation we don’t need right now. Instead, we talk to the statue, asking for permission to enter the doors. We hear a voice: “Name the justice you seek.” Since none of us knows what this means, we start throwing things into the void, from “Mechanus” to “Justice for the Warforged,” but nothing works. We recall something Nyx said about the Mechanus book and decide it might hold the answers we need. This place will have to wait until after the meeting with my father.

That time has finally arrived, and we head to the Dripscale Caverns via the Stacks. When we arrive, three members of the Church are in the caves searching for something, and I can only assume it’s the entrance to my father’s lair. Knowing what we now know about the Church, we attack. Ronan unfortunately loses us some element of surprise when his crossbow bolts miss their target, and the battle begins. The ranking member of the Church is a fairly powerful caster, and the two lackeys are carrying some very hot sticks. I know because after the caster gets me in a magic grapple, one of those hot sticks singes off a good patch of my fur. Thanks to the efforts of Keys and Brendel, I get free, while Oman—
